Strengthening Bonds: US Ambassador's Emphasis on the India-US Partnership

Garcetti emphasized the pivotal role of the India-US relationship in global diplomacy, driven by shared values, respect, and collaboration for a prosperous and peaceful future.

The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, emphasized the significance of the India-US partnership, noting its global implications. About US President Joe Biden's statements, Garcetti conveyed his admiration for India and the depth of the bilateral relationship. During an interview with the news agency ANI, when asked about Biden's remark that the India-US partnership is most consequential globally, the ambassador cited Biden's direct words, stating, "He has expressed that sentiment privately to me. He mentioned, 'Eric, you know, this is the most important country in the world to me,' when he approached me to become ambassador."

Garcetti expressed his long-term close friendship with Biden and initially assumed Biden's remarks were customary diplomatic niceties. However, he acknowledged Biden's sincerity after witnessing his consistent affirmation of India's significance during official discussions.

Garcetti described the bond as more robust than ever, highlighting the mutual affection between the peoples of India and the United States. He stated that Indians love Americans, and Americans love Indians. There has never been a more vital bridge between the two nations, and it is essential for both countries and the entire world.

He also mentioned his extensive travels within India, visiting 22 states and Union territories in 11 months, including memorable visits to Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.

The US ambassador underscored the shared commitment to defending democracy against extremist ideologies, both domestically and internationally. He emphasized that despite occasional differences, the primary battle is against extremist ideologies and dictatorship, with both nations being stalwarts of democracy.

Garcetti expressed his enthusiasm for serving as Ambassador to India, characterizing the country as the "most exciting place to be in the world." He praised the vibrancy of India-US ties and emphasized the importance of collaboration across various sectors, including technology, trade, and space.

Regarding India-US bilateral relations, the mutual acknowledgment of the partnership's significance was highlighted during Prime Minister Modi's inaugural state visit to the US in June 2023. The visit included engagements with Indian and American CEOs, ceremonial events at the White House, and engagements with the Indian diaspora in Washington, DC.

In September of the previous year, US President Joe Biden visited New Delhi for the G20 Leaders' Summit, reinforcing the strategic partnership with discussions on infrastructure investments and economic connectivity initiatives. This relationship, characterized by shared democratic values and robust cooperation, spans various areas and is driven by vibrant people-to-people contacts.
